Susan L. James
Contacts
Susan provides legal services to clients across southern Saskatchewan in the areas of wills and estates, corporate and commercial law, business succession and planning, and real estate. Susan focuses on supporting rural and agricultural communities and tailors her legal services to the unique needs of the smaller centres in the province. She enjoys working with individuals and families on establishing estate plans for all stages of life and is particularly sensitive to the complexities that can arise with family farms and closely held businesses. Susan offers compassionate but effective support in all estate administration matters faced by clients after the death of a loved one. She also advises on all stages of business operations, from formation and structure to ongoing governance, as well as real estate transactions including commercial and residential sales, purchases, and leases.
Before entering the legal profession, Susan spent a decade as a research scientist assisting industry and government clients with identifying and meeting their environmental research needs. She has been invited to author blogs and magazine articles, present on various topics at conferences, and to review manuscripts, proposals, and college-level textbooks. Susan has published several manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals in both legal and environmental topics.
Susan’s experience in both law and science allow her to work closely with clients to offer practical guidance and implement pragmatic solutions. She values establishing strong relationships with her clients.
In her free time, she enjoys spending as much time as possible with her husband and their two sons, as well as golfing, playing soccer and slopitch, and coaching youth sports teams.
